Celebrating the life of
Anna Marie Aliffi
May 27, 1981 - September 22, 2021
Anna Marie Aliffi, age 40, of Savannah, Georgia, died peacefully on September 22, 2021. Anna had bravely endured a lifelong struggle with Muscular Dystrophy and a recent extended battle with pneumonia prior to her passing.
Anna was born May 27, 1981, in Atlanta, Georgia to Francis Earl “Frank” Aliffi, Jr. and Joan Shoemaker Aliffi. She was graduate of Groves High School in Garden City, Georgia
Preceding Anna in death are her mother, father, and a sister, Valerie. Anna was also preceded in death by her grandparents, Frank Aliffi Sr. and LaVeta Felton Aliffi, Louis C. Shoemaker and Stella Cronk Shoemaker.
Anna’s family wishes to extend their heartfelt love and gratitude for many friends and relatives who generously supported and delighted Anna throughout her life. She is survived by her stepmother, Jane Jones Aliffi and a stepsister, Terri Sweeny; uncles, Otto Aliffi, Richard (Carol) Shoemaker, Carl (Vicki) Shoemaker, Gary (Joyce) Shoemaker. Anna is also survived by numerous cousins.
Additionally, the family owes enormous debt of gratitude to the countless caregivers, medical personnel, and the community of parents in the Savannah area who cared for children suffering many forms of Muscular Dystrophy. These individuals worked tirelessly to bring Anna healing, comfort, companionship, and guidance throughout her life. It took a village to assist in Anna’s care, and Anna’s family holds each member of this village in the highest esteem and gratitude for their skills, generosity and love.
While Anna had led a life full of physical and mental disabilities, she not only accepted her limitations, but she also continuously looked forward to the infinite possibilities life held in store. She saw herself simply as “Anna” and life delighted her in so many ways. She was an engaging conversationalist and an avid moviegoer. She loved animals and visits from friends and relative, and thrilled in telling stories. Her memory was also remarkable. She could remember word-for-word conversations she’d had with countless people and could quote movie dialogues from memory. Not one to spare faulty retellings, she would correct anyone who misquoted one of her favorite movie characters, especially Disney heroines
A graveside service for Anna will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 13, 2023 at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 315 Greenwich Road, Savannah, GA.
